The U.S. Under Review: Advocating on Behalf of Women and Girls of Color in Minnesota
Fredrickson and Byron, PA hosted a CLE entitled The US Under Review: Advocating on Behalf of Women and Girls of Color in Minnesota on Thursday, November 30th. Staff
from the Advocates were joined by Dr. Brittany Lewis of Research in
Action and Lakeisha Lee of the Missing and Murdered African American
Women Taskforce here in Minnesota. Dr. Lewis and Lakeisha shared more
about their work, the status of missing and murdered African American
women here in MN, and their experience advocating at the UN. We included
further information about the UN process.
"When we connected with The Advocates for Human Rights and had the chance to move forward with the report we submitted to the UN, it really solidified our
stance and our place in the Twin Cities, as coming out to the world as a
total group... It helped us see on the national level who else was doing
the work and who else we can connect with. Because that's what has to
happen: connectiveness." - Lakeisha Lee
