Former President Carter speaking at World Habitat Day: 27th Annual Carter Work Project

The Advocates for Human Rights mourns the loss of former President Jimmy Carter. He was a true champion of human rights, believing in the inherent dignity of all people. He brought this commitment to his presidency, seeking public policy grounded in human rights principles. He also believed, as we do, that we all have a part to play in making human rights a reality. He turned his belief into action through a lifetime of work for peace, justice, and democracy. He was recognized with many awards including the Nobel Peace Prize. He was a hero and example to human rights defenders in the US and around the world. The Advocates sends condolences to the Carter family and all those in the human rights community who mourn his loss.
